The members of Uptown Rotary gathered on December 18 to mark the 30th anniversary (almost to the day) of their first meeting in 1988. Over the years these remarkable folks have done much to better our community. They’ve also welcomed me into their fold. Here is the story.

The members of Uptown Rotary launched The Great Jefferson School Read on October 11. Patterned on PBS’ The Great American Read, the program created by Uptown Rotary, Magers & Quinn Booksellers, and Jefferson teachers includes authors who speak especially to the inner-city experience. As part of their ongoing commitment to literacy and the students at Jefferson School, the good folks of Uptown Rotary took 125 third- and eighth-graders to Magers & Quinn Booksellers (in homeroom groups of 25 students at a time) on February 7 and 8, 2018.
